Mrs. Melanie started training in Shotokan Karate under Sensei Norman Lacaden in 1999, where she earned the rank of 5th Kyu. In 2001, she was named State Champion from the Mississippi Karate Federation. Shortly after, she stopped her training and moved to Marietta, Georgia. It wasn’t until 2012 that she decided to begin her training with Shihan Lamei. Since beginning her training with Ultimate Karate and Fitness, she has won numerous regional championships and won 2 gold medals at the U.S. National Championships and Team Trials in 2013, and in the 2017 Championships, she added another gold and a bronze medal to her list of accomplishments. She earned the rank of Shodan (1st Degree) Black Belt in March 2015 and the title “Sensei” in November 2015. In March of 2018, She earned the rank of Nidan (2nd Degree) Black Belt. She is certified in CPR and AED with the American Heart Association. She is a U.S. Karate Federation Certified Coach and aids in training the Team UKF Competition Team. IN addition she manages UKF’s After School Program and School Break Camp.
